Yup, this is a very good episode. I always like the SP episodes who are critical of a social phenomenon, and in this one Scientolog's ass is really kicked. Good for them, with their intolerant sue-for-critizism-policy.

Mmm, I don't know about that Isaac Hayes was pretty good as Chef. Then again I guess he should have expected it, South Park takes the piss out of most religions. Also welcome to the forums Mr Mackey and Token!

Just my opinion but I think Isaac Hayes is a douche tard for leaving lol. He's been on south park for so long making fun of almost everything, then when it comes to scientology he bitches out. Isaac Hayes respect -5 points in my books.

As I understand it, Isaac Hayes "retired" due to ill health and the letter purporting to be from him, saying that he was quitting because South Park had gone too far in taking the piss out of Scientology, was a forgery. huh.gif

Is this right?

I can't find where I read it originally, but this is on Wikipedia:

QUOTE
Chef's appearances became more and more limited as the show has progressed. On March 14, 2006, Isaac Hayes (Voice Of Chef ) reportedly quit South Park in saying that he didn't like how the show was treating various religions, claiming that there was a difference between satire and intolerance.[1]

Although the offensive episode was not directly brought up, it was Trapped in the Closet (Season 9 Episode 12), where Scientology was dubbed as a "global scam", that was thought to have caused Hayes to quit, because he himself is a Scientologist. It was later revealed, however, that because of Hayes' health, he had not been able to act for some time, and had no intention of quitting; the letter supposedly written by Hayes was revealed to be a hoax.[citation needed]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor_South_P...characters#Chef

As you see, it is also only giving this version without any evidence (which Wikipedia is obviously looking for). I seem to remember the "Return of the Chef" episode being broadcast only a few days after the "letter" appeared, meaning that they didn't have enough time to get their own back on Hayes in the way they did. However, the letter appearing just before the episode aired would obviously help in grabbing a few extra viewers, eh? Coincidence? Who knows. blink.gif

Very interesting ohmy.gif I was unaware of this. Those scientologists are insane! Putting words into their followers mouths. This just proves how effed up that cult really is.
